Dr. Dara Lee Lewis

Co-Director, Women's Cardiology Program

I graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1992 and then trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Prior to joining the Lown Group, I worked at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Presbyterian Heart Group in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology. I am an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School where I am actively involved in medical education. My professional interests include women’s cardiac health, cardiac imaging, preventive cardiology, and general cardiology issues including coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease. I also have expertise and interest in the management of patients with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). I joined the Lown staff in June 2013.

I am passionate about helping my patients achieve a healthy balanced lifestyle, which is the cornerstone of prevention and management of cardiac disease. I believe strongly that optimal health begins with the four pillars of wellness: healthy diet, active lifestyle, adequate sleep, and stress management.  Achieving a healthy balance is challenging when juggling the demands of work and family! When appropriate, I start with a focus on non-pharmacologic measures and aim to avoid overtreatment. However, in some cases there is certainly a role for the judicious use of medications and interventions. Each patient is unique!

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking or hanging out at home. I love to cook and one of my favorite challenges is making healthy foods that still taste good.

Dr. Alyson Kelley-Hedgepeth

Co-Director, Women's Cardiology Program

I graduated from Boston University Medical School in 2003, completed my Internal Medicine Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, and then a Fellowship in Cardiology at Tufts Medical Center/ Molecular Cardiology Research Institute. I am Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and Board Eligible in Nuclear Medicine and Echocardiography. I have extensive experience in managing coronary artery disease, heart failure and arrhythmias. Prior to joining the Lown Cardiovascular Group, I worked for a decade as a non-invasive cardiologist at a multi-specialty medical center. In that role, I developed cardiac disease management programs for heart failure treatment, including a post-hospitalization specialized clinic.

My commitment to preventative cardiovascular care led me to the Lown Group and I joined their team, providing personalized cardiovascular care with an emphasis on early disease detection and prevention. My clinical passion lies in cardiac lifestyle assessment and women’s cardiovascular disease. I partner with my patients to identify how simple lifestyle changes can promote healing and wellness. In my free time, I enjoy Peloton rides, practicing yoga, and skiing with my husband and kids.
