A Woman’s Heart is
Different
“Compared to men, women are often not diagnosed with cardiac problems until later in their disease...just like mammograms and colonoscopies, regular cardiac evaluations can save women’s lives.”
- Alyson Kelley-Hedgepeth, MD
Our Mission:
Deliver personalized cardiovascular care in our patient-centered practice with a focus on early detection and prevention.
Our Goal:
Proactively screen for and address individual risk factors before disease is present.
Know your risk
- Heart disease is the leading cause of death in American women, causing more deaths than all cancers combined.
- The prevalence of diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure is increasing in women. These “silent” risk factors often go undetected until heart disease has already developed.
- Women with a history of preeclampsia, other disorders of pregnancy, autoimmune disease, certain treatments for breast cancer, PCOS(polycystic ovary syndrome) and depression are also at higher risk for heart disease.
INTRODUCING OUR UNIQUE APPROACH
TO WOMEN’S CARDIAC DISEASE PREVENTION
Our Women’s Cardiovascular Screening Package includes:
- Comprehensive, 90-minute, one-on-one initial evaluation with one of our cardiologists to determine personal risk factors.
- Careful review of outside medical records and labs.
- Body composition analysis to assess skeletal muscle and fat mass.
- Personalized testing, as appropriate (listed below).
- Follow-up meeting with your cardiologist to review screening tests and develop a personalized Cardiovascular Wellness Plan.
- Individualized lifestyle-based recommendations addressing exercise, nutrition, sleep and stress.
Personalized Cardiac Testing, based on individual risk, may include*:
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- In-house Phlebotomy (laboratory services)
- Laboratory Assessment including advanced lipids markers, inflammatory and metabolic assessment panel (performed via Boston Heart Diagnostics)
- Stress testing
- Echocardiogram
- Carotid Artery Ultrasound
- Coronary Artery Calcium Score

*Tests will be billed through insurance and patients will be responsible for payment in accordance with their individual insurance plan guidelines. All above tests are performed at our Chestnut Hill office, except for the Coronary Artery Calcium Score and Coronary CT Angiogram, which are performed at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
